For BRUGGGORE fans, Christmas is coming earlier this year. At our Christmas Double Fearture, we spread a festive atmosphere with 70s slasher BLACK CHRISTMAS and the Spanish cracker EL DÍA DE LA BESTIA.

If you like Christmassy slasher films, you can't avoid BLACK CHRISTMAS (1974). The title doesn't mean anything to you? Then you're either not old enough or you might know him under the premiere title SILENT NIGHT, EVIL NIGHT or even in the German version JESSY — DIE TREPPE IN DEN TOD. Film historians should discuss whether this film founded the genre. But instead of a peaceful Christmas idyll, we get POV shots of the killer, anonymous phone calls and a final girl as a gift. Nothing more should be revealed at all. Gifts are supposed to be a surprise.

Other than BLACK CHRISTMAS EL DÍA DE LA BESTIA (1995) does not only target a handful of female students, but potentially the whole world. A Catholic priest must commit as many sins as possible to prevent the birth of the Antichrist. In return, he teams up with a death metal fan and sins what it takes just before Christmas Eve. Álex de la Iglesia has delighted us time and again over the years with films bordering on horror and fantasy. Think of ACCIÓN MUTANTE, CRIMEN FERPECTO, BALADA TRISTE DE LA TROMPETA, LAS BRUJAS DE ZUGARRAMURDI or the fidgety 30 MONEDAS series. EL DÍA DE LA BESTIA is also a colorful mix of genres and recommended to pretty much everyone who doesn't go to church every Sunday.
