Frankie Ramirez lives in Los Angeles, is a singer and songwriter, so far moderately successful with it, and has to listen to insults again and again because of her appearance. Surrounded by toxic beauty ideals in a superficial industry, one hurtful comment is suddenly too many. Frankie starts fighting back and goes on a slasher tour!
Leading actress Dina Silva has literally written her role for herself, acting as co-author, producer and musician. Directed by Pierre Tsigaridis, who contributed a heavy film to last year's festival with TRAUMATIKA (2024), FRANKIE, MANIAC WOMAN, also addresses traumatic experiences. It is about misogyny and fat-shaming, grievances in the entertainment industry and distorted self-perception. Frankie's Revenge is bloody and yet the film also offers black humor and an almost satirical view of our society.
