Ginger and Brigitte are sisters, outsiders and fascinated by death. The boring suburban life, growing up and school are only bearable thanks to their morbid hobby and sisterly solidarity. When Ginger is bitten by a beast one night, a disastrous transformation begins. Can Brigitte save her sister?
With GINGER SNAPS, author Karen Walton and director John Fawcett have succeeded in kicking off a successful werewolf trilogy that has opened up a new generation of horror fans. This is clearly also due to the wonderful cast and the refreshingly cynical play by Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle (the many of you probably know from AMERICAN MARY (2012), INSOMNIA (2002) or FREDDY VS. JASON (2003)), for deep black humor and bloody effects. Coming-of-age horror doesn't just have to be stupid, boozing teenagers with no depth of character.
