International premiere
In order to finance his studies and support the single mother, a teenager takes on small crook jobs. They become more and more serious and finally lead him, together with a group of other crooks, into a remote forest. What lurks there makes the “Cocaine Bear” look like a teddy bear. A bloodthirsty monster attacks and a fight for survival begins, man against woman against bear.
Close to it's premiere in Japan, we present you HIGUMA!!, the costume film of the year, as international premiere here in Switzerland. How awesome is that? We would love to get to know the people who had to rumble around for days in brown bear costumes. Director and screenwriter Eisuke Naitô fortunately uses practical effects. The inclined eye is pampered with hard gore effects, a good dose of Japanese trash entertainment, but despite everything also a solid coming-of-age story that sheds light on the protagonist's difficult life situation. Of course, a bit of love story shouldn't be missing.
