Season Special: We Are Not Doomed. Yet!
A hobo dreams of owning a lawnmower and a new life in Hopetown. However, the crime boss Drake rules there and terrorizes the population with his sons, corrupt policemen and murder squads. Involuntarily, the tramp must become an avenger and savior. It's a moving story.
The BRUGGGORE Film Festival also stands for rich films, no, it should have been called violent. HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN is a wonderful homage to exploitation cinema and covers the entire spectrum of bad taste and absurd excesses of violence. But what do flying heads and burning children on the school bus have to do with our season special?
If you look at statistics on the political situation in the world, you can see one thing unequivocally: there are fewer and fewer genuine democracies. More people live in systems in which personal freedom is massively restricted and political power is distributed unilaterally. HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN shows a dystopian world in which a tyrannical gangster reigns quasi-dictatorial rule. I don't know about you, but in real life, there's no desire for a world like that. That's why we don't want to pick up a shotgun, but use a writing pad or microphone, find out from reliable sources and turn on our brains instead of turning them off. In Switzerland, we (still) have the right to freedom of opinion, freedom of expression and freedom of information. Let us use this right, this privilege, as an empowering right. Let's question government action and tell would-be dictators what we think of them!
