Penny retouches models' pictures in a photo studio. The constant confrontation with what she herself regards as “perfect” damages her self-esteem. Despite intensive training and dieting, she is not able to lose weight until she finally finds a weight loss pill that literally makes the fat fall off her.
It's not every day that twin sisters pursue the same career. It is likely even rarer that they end up in the same movie and one sister plays a twin that was created from the others' coated fat. But thankfully, there is THINESTRA for that. With his first feature film, director Nathan Hertz delivers a biting social satire, addresses absurd ideals of beauty, borderline diet cultures and the effects of this on one's own ego. Even in films, this is not always entirely appetizing and even deadly for some. Completely in line with reality.
