Find the anomaly!

Exit 8 (Original title: 8-ban deguchi)

Somewhere in Japan, a young man gets lost in the endless corridors of a metro station. While searching for EXIT 8, he finds out that he can only get closer to his goal if he follows mysterious rules of the game and finds anomalies in the supposedly always the same corridors.

Video game adaptations are always such a thing and rarely work out. EXIT 8 marks a clear exception. Based on the eponymous indie game from Kotake Create, the film is visually amazingly close to the game and adapts the story perfectly for the big screen. It is not only the seemingly hopeless corridors that have an oppressive effect. Almost metaphorically, the nameless protagonist stands for isolation, powerlessness and loneliness in an otherwise overcrowded world. His inner conflict is reflected in his actions, while the search for an outcome is also the search for a way out of personal crises.
