Sweet dreams are made for me

La cité des enfants perdus

In a gloomy world, on an oil rig, the dubious scientist “Krank” lives with his clone brothers and cannot dream. To alleviate his suffering, he has children abducted to extract their dreams. When the little boy Denrée is kidnapped, the dodgy escape artist One sets out to find him. Along the way, he makes friends with the orphan Miette, who supports him in his search.

True to our festival motto “Fantastic Horror and Beyond”, the fantastic film also has a place in the program and hardly anyone creates more fantastic worlds than the Frenchmen Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Halfway between DELICATESSEN (1991) and LE FABULEUX DESTIN D'AMÉLIE POULAIN (2001), they created one of their most surreal, crazy films ever with LA CITÉ DES ENFANTS PERDUS. Dominique Pinon alone, who plays six almost identical, childish clones, would be worth an entire feature film. A film full of crazy ideas, phenomenal sceneries and costumes by Jean-Paul Gaultier.
