The audience prize “Eye of the Beholder” award 2026 and prize money of 5,000 Swiss francs goes to Paweł Podolski, the director of LIFE FOR BEGINNERS (ŻYCIE DLA POCZATKUJACYCH, Poland, 2025). Director Hoku Uchiyama wins the international short film competition “Short but Deadly” with the film WHITCH (USA, 2025).
A total of 50 international feature films (including 26 Swiss and two international premieres) and 27 short films were shown at the BRUGGGORE Filmfestival 2026.
Successful silent film dubbing
The live silent movie dubbing of HÄXAN (Sweden/Denmark, 1922) by Swiss multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer Anna Murphy tops the entry statistics for this year's film festival with 144 guests. Also very successful with 120 entries was PAN'S LABYRINTH (Spain/Mexico, 2006), which was shown as a 35mm film copy. KARMADONNA (Serbia, 2025) divided the audience and caused controversial discussions. The international premiere of HIGUMA!! (Japan, 2026) and the Swiss premieres of AFRICAN KUNG FU NAZIS II: BUM BUM! (Ghana/Japan/Germany, 2025) and FUCK MY SON! (USA, 2025) caused laughter and headshakes — and made a lot of genre fans very happy.
“The best five days of the year are over. I feel a bit naked without a festival badge around my neck. Continuous sunshine has made for wonderful conversations and experiences outside the movie theaters, even though summer conditions have a rather negative effect on ticket sales. Nevertheless, I am very satisfied with the figures. Even more important is the satisfaction of the maniacs — our loyal fans, who made for a peaceful, cheerful and fantastic occasion.” Michel Frutig, festival director
The seventh BRUGGGORE Film Festival will take place from April 20 to 24, 2027.
