Eight times cultivated cinema horror in a multipack

Monstrous things from the deep sea, apocalyptic Christmases, zombies in a retirement home, or artificial intelligence that terrorizes a shopping center. On Saturday, August 30, 2026, after the summer break, the sixth season of the BRUGGGORE Horror Double Fearture Lunch Cinema Extravaganza, a monthly event format of the BRUGGGORE Film Festival, starts.

With the BRUGGGORE Film Festival, Brugg becomes the main venue for horror film fans and cinema enthusiasts who appreciate fantastic and scary films away from the mainstream for five days. To bridge the wait for the sixth edition of the festival from April 21 to 25, 2026, the film series “Horror Double Fearture Lunch Cinema Extravaganza”, presented by Cinema Excelsior and Film Festival Team Brugggore, will start again on August 30, 2025. Eight thematically appropriate double screenings at lunchtime are on the program and crispy pizzas are on the menu.

Wide selection of films

For the 2025/2026 season, there was once more a deep rummage in the digging box for past horror pearls. From creature features, sci-fi horror, horror comedies to hard slasher films, a well balanced midday cinema program came together. Strictly following the motto “No fillers. Just killers.”

30.08.2025, 12:00 Night of the Living Dead (1968), 14:15 Dawn of the Dead (1978), 16:30 Day of the Dead (1985), 18:30 Night of the Living Dead (1990).
After the summer break, fans of cult films and raised neck hair can start a brilliant zombie marathon. For once, not just two but even four films await all fans of the undead in the “A Full Day With The Living Dead” marathon. For horror fans, “Dawn of the Dead” and “Day of the Dead” in particular belong to the standard repertoire, as they were banned or censored in many countries for years.

04.10.2025, 12:00 The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988), Snakes on a Plane (2006).
An anthropologist is sent to Haiti to find out why a person who has been told dead is suddenly walking around again (“The Serpent and the Rainbow”), while in “Snakes on a Plane,” a few villains set hundreds of poisonous snakes on the plane in order to — quite logically — eliminate a key witness.

25.10.2025, 12:00 Leviathan (1989), 14:15 Deep Rising (1998).
The crew of a deep-sea mine expedition comes across a dangerous military experiment in the sunken Russian submarine “Leviathan”. The fight against a gigantic tentacle monster takes place in “Deep Rising.” The 90s blockbuster cinema entertains with funny characters and a good dose of splatter fun.

29.11.2025, 12:00 Pandora (2009), Event Horizon (1997).
Every few Double Feartures, the BRUGGGORE ventures into space. There, too, a bit of horror likes to lurk. However, “Pandorum” and “Event Horizon” not only go together thematically, but also form an unofficial Paul W.S. Anderson special.

13.12.2025, 12:00 Black Christmas (1974), The Day of the Beast (1995).
For Brugggore fans, Christmas is coming earlier this year as well. At Christmas Double Fearture, we spread a festive atmosphere with 70s slashers “Black Christmas” and the Spanish cracker “El Día de la Bestia”.

31.01.2026, 12:00 The Revenant (2009), Cockneys vs. Zombies (2012).
Good horror comedies are scarce and then they must also make sense as double fearture. No wonder they're rare. Nice, thanks to “The Revenant” and “Cockneys vs. Zombies,” two zombie comedies can mistreat the retina.

28.02.2026, 12:00 The Collector (2009), The Collection (2012).
“The Collector” by Marcus Dunstan opens the collector double for Gore Hounds and Home Invasion aficionadas. A petty crook wants to break into a house but meets a masked big crook called “the Collector” and his escape room full of deadly traps. “The Collection” picks up pretty much where “The Collector” left off. For spoiler reasons, nothing more is revealed about the plot.

28.03.2026, 12:00 Chopping Mall (1986, e/D), Hardware (1990, E/d).
At least once a season, there are two classic films that certainly do not deserve the term “classics” and can only be described as “films” with lots of genre love. So that would be this double. Let the robot trashing begin!
